Gurdwara Sri Gurusar Pakka Sahib

Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji arrived in village Handiaya and rested under a grove of trees near a pond.

Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji held a diwan and performed kirtan for the local Sangat. At that time there was a mysterious disease that was affecting the villagers in the area.

Guru Tegh Bahadur advised the villagers to bathe in the nearby pond. One of the villagers said that the Chamars (low caste Tanners) used to dip their leather hides in the pond and hesitated to take Guru Tegh Bahadur's advice.

Guru Tegh Bahadur asked the villagers to ignore their prejudice and bathed in the pond himself. The villagers brought an affected villager and made him to bathe in that pond. The patient felt relieved and was cured. Later all of the sick villagers took a bath in the pond and were cured.

The villagers served Guru Tegh Bahadur with great respect and devotion. A sarovar has now been built at the site of the pond.

Gurdwara Sri Gurusar Kacha Sahib

Gurdwara Sri Gurusar Kacha Sahib is located on the western outskirts of Handiaya.

When Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji left Handiaya and the site of Gurdwara Sri Gurusar Pakka Sahib, Guru Ji was followed by an old lady named Mai Joni. By the time the lady had caught up with Guru Tegh Bahadur, Guru Ji was already at the outskirts of Handiaya.

Mai Joni offered Guru Tegh Bahadur Kacha Dudh (fresh unpasteurized milk) hence the name and location of Gurdwara Sri Gurusar Kacha Sahib. Guru Tegh Bahadur drank the milk and blessed Mai Joni. From here, Guru Tegh Bahadur travelled to Arisar.

Prakash diwas of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Shaheedi diwas of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji are major annual events that are celebrated here.
