The Fifth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Arjun Dev Ji made a brief halt at this place while on his way from Amritsar to Gurdwara Baarth Sahib in Village Baarth. Sri Guru Arjan Sahib Ji stopped to rest here briefly while on his way from Amritsar to Barth Sahib.
Guru Ji was invited by Baba Sri Chand Ji (the eldest son of Sri Guru Nanak Sahib Ji) to Barth. An eight cornered well near the Gurdwara is believed to possess medicinal properties.
The Gurdwara commemorating Guru Arjan's visit comprises of a small domed octagonal Manji Sahib, with a verandah in front and several ancillary rooms within a walled compound.
The water of an old eight-cornered well, outside the compound, is believed by some Sikhs to possess medicinal properties for curing certain diseases. The Gurdwara owns 93 acres of land and is affiliated to the Shiromam Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.
Gatherings take place on Sunday and on the last day of the dark half of the month. A special day on the annual calendar is the anniversary of the martyrdom of Guru Arjan. A sarovar has recently been dug, across the approach road, by the followers of Bhai Gurmukh Singh.
