Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji came to village Handiyaya in the year 1665 A.D and rested under a grove near a pond. A person came and told Guru Ji about a mysterious disease rampant in the area. Guru Ji advised him to have the patient bathed in the pond. The person told Guru Ji that the Chamars (tanners) used the pond to dip their hides in. Guru Ji asked them to ignore their prejudices and bathe in the pond.

The villagers still hesitated saying that the water of the pond was foul. At that the Guru himself then bathed in the pond. After that the villagers brought a man with the mysterous disease and bathed him in the pond. The sick man suddenly felt relieved and cured. Later all the sick villagers bathed in the pond and were cured. The villagers served Guru Ji gratefully with devotion during His stay.

Now a sarovar has been built at the place of pond.
